I was invited to an impromptu shindig with some of my former students. My contribution to the day's festivities...some red white and blue desserts of course. And hell no, I did not bake anything in this heat. All items came from my favorite local bakery. Yummy!
Clockwise from top blueberry/custard pie, apple pie and strawberry cheesecake.It was a good time. As it was planned and executed exclusively by men, the menu consisted of a lot of protein and not much else...we played chess and Scrabble and had great conversation...

an almost finished sock!
It's actually, the Embossed Leaves (Ravelry link) sock from Favorite Socks: 25 Timeless Designs from Interweave. It's the first of a pair due to my aunt in Florida as her Christmas 2007 gift...I know...I know...I'm very trifflin'.... Just a few more rows of decreases and then an immediate cast on for the second sock. Thanks Risa! I am hoping I can send them to her as a "Christmas in July" gift...Here's to hoping!

I have made that pattern and it's one of my favorite pairs of socks. I am teaching my niece to knit so when I get old and more arthritic, I can still have handknit socks.
I am so glad that your sock mojo is back, and you did not totally give up. Yay!!! The sock looks great. As you know, I have had those socks on the needles for a very long time, so I am happy to see an almost complete one. Keep pressin' on.

I tried to respond to the comment you left on my blog but you are set to 'no-reply'. Anyhoo... Thanks for visiting and the little quilt is already hung up on the wall by my sewing machine. I haven't ever knit up the Embossed Leaves pattern, but I am working my way through Cat Bordhi's book New Pathways for Sock Knitters. It has stalled for the summer, tho.

Lovely almost sock! I've been tempted to make that one, it's so nice. I have a big hobbit foot though and it's kind of a small one. I'm not sure I have the brain power to size it up.
